Now that the discourse has worn itself out, I'd like to mention that the portrayal of masculinity that had the most profound effect on me as a child was by Robin Hobb, a cis woman. Can't imagine being so petty about the identities of the authors I read.

A year ago, to the day, I finished Ship of Magic - the first Robin Hobb book I’d ever read. Now I’m just starting the final book in the series. It’s been a fun ride!

Kat and I will be at the Oakland World Fantasy Con later this October. But we are there as readers. No panels, no signings. But if you have your book and see me in the halls, I'm happy to do a quick autograph.

It's funny. I loved The Farseers Trilogy. Every review I read/watch, people are a little the same review"meh it's ok I guess" about it. Then they review The Live Ship Traders Trilogy and all think it's amazing. Me? I'm not feeling it. I'm 13 chapters deep and it hasn't gripped me like Farseer did.

Sometimes Robin hobb likes to play chess with me with regards to queer ships, but I was warned ahead of time that this challenger before me is in fact a very well disguised dog

I wonder if this was the inspiration for Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb (sailing ships that become sentient after being in use for multiple generations. There's more to it than that but that's the non-spoilery version)

The Japanese thought (and think now) that a sufficiently respected household object becomes sapient after a hundred years so they may already think the oven is thinking about you back
