Malazan

Gimli visits Rhulad Sengar in the Refugium, a grin on his bearded face. HERO'S TRIAL: Successful Roll. Gimli commands the forces of Erebor to overwhelm and crush his foe. "By Durin's Beard, that was a fine battle!"

same! (usually lol) if you haven’t read it, try malazan next!

The sense of depth/height and fall of light in the NIR image on the right is powerful. A cloudscape revealed.

High King Kallor visits Boethiah in the Ebony Mine, advancing with relentless determination, a figure of grim authority. TITAN'S MIGHT: Unsuccessful Roll. Boethiah turns allies into deadly betrayers with sinister whispers. "Betrayal is the sweetest victory."

I am definitely mixing up characters all the time. All characters with a one-syllable name are basically all the same character. All Malazan soldiers are basically the same soldier. Still great books! 😂

Hmmm, I don't know what to say about Legacies of Betrayal. It was a pleasure to read, with some of Erikson's most joyful writing. But I don't feel like it went anywhere.

I’m going on holiday in two weeks and I need the fattest, most epic, absurdly confusing fantasy novel to read while getting slowly drunk by the pool and I’ve finished all of Malazan and don’t like Sanderson. Does anyone have any ideas?

Alexei Barov visits Kalam Mekhar in Seven Cities, accompanied by an unsettling chorus of the undead. UNYIELDING STRATEGY: Unsuccessful Roll. Kalam Mekhar strikes from the shadows with his twin blades, each blow swift and deadly. "You never stood a chance."

Baron Rivendare visits Brys Beddict in the frozen tundra of Lether, the very air freezing as he draws near. DOMINANCE DUEL: Successful Roll. Baron Rivendare raises legions of the undead to swarm and tear apart his foe. "Bow before the might of the Scourge!"
