I feel like we should also have free lifelong learning courses for things that may not be tied to employment. Just things like art classes or studying literature and definitely media literacy. It would foster community and open up people's hearts and minds.

maybe they just. . . idk, the whole "lifelong learning" thing is clearly a neoliberal scam, and maybe they don't know how to do something purely for enjoyment anymore? maybe there's a real fear of committing to anything because it just becomes a duty.

It's not even about the adult education course, it's about the fact that in addition to not possessing reading comprehension skills, some of these same folks are willing to bootlick while not even trying to bother to learn how theyre being screwed over.
