Bringing out the big guns

Ok I think there are about four baby cardinals. The way they pop up for breakfast is cracking me up. Going to try for a better angle later without bothering them. This camera is in the bedroom window.

We bought a very sad orange snapdragon from the hardware store about six years ago. Because of the way they flop over and drop seed, he has ended up in a 15+ different pots since then. Fun plants.

A tarantula, likely Texas Brown Tarantula (Aphonopelma hentzi) against blue grey wood trim. She's very hairy, abdomen like a bearded pecan, eight segmented legs like telescoping pipe cleaners, a cluster of eyes, much smaller than you'd think at the center and top of the head

Sphinx Moth, hummingbird of the insect world. We have had so many this year. I think they like the frost grape vines and ash trees.
White lined Sphinx moth on the tip of an open palm before out of focus leaves. Very fuzzy little critter with a big eye that doesn't really look compound and two broad wings. Tan and brown with white lines running top to bottom. Adorable antennae
Top side of moth can see the white line pattern running through the arrowhead shaped wings. They are brown with a beige stripe running across each then perpendicular hashes of white. Where ailerons would be on a plane are almost grey.

A Columbine flower bud still forming, coming off the stalk on a viney tendril, hanging face downward like a candle snuffer. The delicate petals are overlapped, forming a pale green to lavender shaped heart on a blurred woodsy backdrop
A more mature flower, deep purple hues now, still hanging downward but distinctive spurs have emerged from the back, curling in slightly at their ends, a botanical squid post thrust. Other flowers at varying stages seen behind but blurry

Oh, hello
A Green Anole sunning on a misting tube strung through the roof pitch of a greenhouse. He's framed by some mandevilla vines twining around a nylon cord. Shot from directly below, we see his how he's really flattened out along the line, a big round belly, skin dotted with fine scales, a soft light creating a smooth gradient of tropical greens. The shadowy parts of his muscular little frog legs trend toward the same muted rosiness of the new mandevilla growth. His legs look almost like a person's legs except for the way his claws are wrapped perfectly around the black mist tube. He's looking down at the camera with a teal surrounded eye in a wedge shaped head that's creamy green on the underside.

The world's sweetest little Green Anole lizard peeking down at me from just over the edge of the hardware cloth covered cedar box I built to protect lizards from a new ventilation fan in the greenhouse. He's standing on the cedar looking down at me, only his head visible. Just below we see the protective metal grid that's stapled to the wood.
The same green anole, now climbing across the galvanized steel mesh face of the box, leisurely walking around what would, if not for the box, be an extremely dangerous situation. He's rusty to light green and slender with a tail that's just about as long as the rest of him.
Now the little lizard is at the base of the box, demonstrating his stubborn curiosity by seeing if his head will fid through the protective metal grid, which it won't, but I appreciate him really driving home why I built this.
Satisfied that he can't get in the box, he's now enjoying the rest of his morning basking on it, in the sunniest part of the greenhouse, where the flies gather, one of which he has snagged and begun to swallow it. He's smiling.

Lantana blooming sequence 🌱

A Helleborus orientalis enjoying her first spring in this shady woodsy spot 🌱
A Helleborus orientalis bloom above its dark blue green foliage. Fully open flower, five wide almond shaped petals fanning from center slightly overlapped, color is a fine gradient from light greenish yellow to a rusty pink I'm not sure I've seen before. Below a second flower bud is on the rise, still closed for now. Background is blurred, a Hackberry tree trunk, scrubby deciduous woods

Dropped leaves after moving but coming back strong. Resilient little rhizome.

My pipevine didn't attract any butterflies this year but they did drop some seed that sprouted. Repotted these toxic little death carrots.

A handful of radishes just plucked from the ground, French breakfast variety, de 18 jours seed variety from Baker Creek. They're long and bulbous at the end going from beautiful deep pink to snowy white at the tips before they quickly taper to long thready roots, still holding some soil
Washed now, the radish bouquet on a well maintained cutting board, shiny and clean, showing off the pink to white transition better, and we see their leafy green tops, healthy with several stems

We now go live to the greenhouse for a look at some plants
Blooming Echeveria flower stalk like a shepherds crook, a stegosaurus back of pink drying blooms, the curl of the question mark, fresher denser smaller buds grouped like a snakes rattle
A snapdragon orange and yellow, riding out the cold snap
My wonderful little coral honeysuckle cutting is sending up shoots, the main stalk a papery twist of twine , to the left, greenish purple leaves unfurling, reptilian almost in their scaly pattern

Discovered what I believe to be aphid mummies today. Pretty metal. Lacewing for scale.
Underside of a gerbera daisy leaf. Dotted with puffy paper spheres, I believe they may be aphids parasitized by wasps. There is also a green lacewing, unrelated, well...he's there to eat some aphids too probably

Important Update
Cute little green lizard poking his hear up over a prickly pear cactus

Had a Green Anole living in a mandevilla all summer, didn't make the trip to the greenhouse and I was worried about him. Disturbed a cold boy under the hose today. Pretty sure it's him.

A very brown green Anole, cold and slow, easily and gently caught by a handsome man's hand, he's peeking out barely from a very loosely formed fist
Hand opened, see the cold brown lizard.
In the greenhouse now on a yucca, looking brighter already, perking up
