There are a range of media and people who have lost their mind about Mamdani. At the time of real threats to democracy they treat him evoking the American creed they grew up with as dangerous radicalism.

One sense of how skewed our political reality is comes as Mamdani says anodyne things that the GOP presidential nominees from 1976-2012 would have all agreed with, like “We should rely on due process for the burning of witches,” and everyone screams, “Leftist Commie! Red Commie!”

political speeches don't usually stick with me but i caught a bit of mamdani's fourth of july speech and this section really got me. as a young immigrant i really Bought In to the american ideal and mamdani just finds a way to dig those feelings out of me again.

Okay. Y’all know I have been fairly critical of Mamdani given his sizable departures from his campaign promises.
But as a pretty consistently poor person whose sister runs animal rescues and low cost vet clinics: a pet food pantry is a great idea.

Mamdani is not your parasocial emotional support Mayor, let alone the future of the Democratic Party. He was brought to prominence by the exact same political guru who gave us Graham Platner. The sooner we realize this, the more insulated from harm we will be when something inevitably hits the fan.
