Okay so love this, but I am a bit uncomfortable with the way people are reposting it as good generic advice for life. Mel brooks is a once in a century genius who was taking notes from studio execs. Maybe take a minute to consider the possibility you’re getting useful notes, actually

I hear so many people say that Mel Brooks couldn't make Blazing Saddles today because the "woke mob" wouldn't have it.
I can only assume people saying this have never seen Blazing Saddles. Brooks was woke way before there was a term for it.
The racists were the JOKE in that film.

Happy 100 to Mel Brooks who marked my childhood since when my parents took me to Paris, the Metro stations were covered in posters for Young Frankenstein or Frankenstein Junior as they called it.

This movie is significant for me, if only because it was the only Mel Brooks movie I ever got to see in a theater. My dad had raised me on the movies, but in the early 90s, Mel was on a bit of a hiatus.
I remember this as being possibly the first movie my dad *had* to take me to see in a theater.
