music - its a very sophisticated sampler and sequencer, with effects, filters, LFOs, compressors, etc which would allow me to start making music without having to use a DAW (which i HATE using for creative purposes). getting a CDJ would be more practical and i would have immediate use for it, but

the digitakt would open up a whole new world for me in terms of making dance music which is something ive always wanted to do. however, it could be something that i use for a couple weeks and get bored of - i have no prior experience with anything of its kind and i dont know for sure if ill like it.

if you want to give money to artists forget anyone big enough to get paid for through spotify and pay directly into bandcamps, patreons, and indie art instead. lift the tide. we make the best work for the smallest return. often we are kept like that bc we threaten power too.

if i *would* request that, i'd probably ask them to replace it with 'apex' since that is basically my masterpiece when it comes to tracker music stuff. and since it's a PCM+OPL .MPTM module it does also very much showcase what OpenMPT and the .MPTM format are capable of, so i think it's a good fit

Also it's just wrong about music. There's never been a time where everyone has exclusively used midi. There are workstation keyboards you can still buy today, decades old, that are basically a daw on a machine. Some bands just played straight into a four track.
