FWIW I would happily pay £5 a month (£30 a year) for a decent tool that just did the captioning bit well.
But £150 - £200 for an editing tool? FML Apple creative studio gives you Final Cut Pro AND Logic Pro for £12.99 a month.
Full fat Sibelius is under £200 a year and that’s niche.

Entirely predictable thing about the way people are profiting from AI.
There are a number of online video editing tools that do transcription and captioning.
Captioning was free and people were using it as a workaround. Making videos in elsewhere and quickly using free versions to caption.

DaVinci Resolve Studio costs a one-time payment of $295
Adobe Premiere Pro costs $275 a year
So, why do folks buy Premiere Pro and not DaVinci Resolve Studio?

about 6 hours ago thanks for stopping by! omg, vlogging and video editing is a lot of work. 5 hours and we're almost done just putting the clips together, we're not even at the voice over and compositing stage. i'm gonna go grab some food and i'll see you all tomorrow for some pirates!!

This is part of the reason why I switched to DaVinci Resolve. It's pretty comparable to Premiere but when it hangs or breaks something, at least I didn't pay for it so it's less annoying.

Right, so today I learned that while DaVinci Resolve is really good as a video editor (I'm liking it more than my old Adobe Premiere Pro), the integrated Fairlight isn't an audio recorder app.
Need something external for that.
I'll look more into it... tomorrow.

oddly i seem to have had autosave turned off?? for most of the project's lifespan?? so i actually can't go back and look at versions prior to the hours leading up to the final edit. there *were* large gaps but i was actively working on it throughout september
