Does anyone know why only this single ester forms from Glu-HCl? Does some coordination “protect” the other acid? 🧪 #chemsky #chemchat
Rxn showing Glu-HCl + MeOH giving only the ester on the side chain.

No Word, I don't think that is a good suggestion. #chemchat #chemsky

Unfortunately this is the wise thing to do. Some national conferences in the US are good and attended by international scholars. Unfortunately no longer a viable option. Bad for everyone involved. Chemchat

Time for every academic to demand that international conferences not be held in the US

Good news chemists, none of us need drugs because our brains are working perfectly 💁‍♀️ #chemchat

Can you pronounce phosphatidylserine?
If you can, congrats - your brains already firing on all cylinders.

I like to gripe about moving instruments, but I can't imagine moving an incredibly delicate dark matter detector to a lab a mile below the surface of the earth. Also it's ~90°F down there (although I think there's HVAC in the lab areas). #chemchat #butreallyphysicschat www.sdsmt.edu/news/release...

When checking the citations of the book you're writing, do you ever accidentally reread an entire book in one sitting? Or are you normal? MAUVE is a lovely mix of chemistry history and fashion history. I think both the #romancelandia crowd and the #chemsky / #chemchat crowd would love it!
a white hand is holding a copy of the book MAUVE by simon garfield next to a latte on a table.
