A ton of Battletech mechs is actually from Macross/Robotech Including a certain Marauder that is quite beloved. It's why they became "unseen" for a time, due to rights issues. One of the battletech mechs was even the transforming jet fighter.

there are also a number of virtual tabletop option for battletech that have the record sheets and whatnot at pretty low cost. I like to use flechs or other programs to print the mech sheets and use the super basic rules with my nephews.
