The Right: Race has nothing to do with poverty Also the Right: Race is inseparable from poverty

INSEPARABLE??? www.thebaltimorebanner.com/education/hi...

The group also attacked financial aid programs at Hopkins, including one given by alum Michael Bloomberg, making the medical school free to attend for those from families making under $300,000 a year. About two-thirds of Hopkins medical students, according to the university, qualify for the scholarship.
Put the conservative group argued that
"it is well recognized that race and ethnicity are inseparable from socioeconomic status," adding that
"Johns Hopkins masks racial preferences behind income thresholds."

We can’t have a functioning democracy if we think our opponents are pedophiles just because they send creepy fawning birthday greetings to pedophiles and talk about walking in on naked 15-year-olds. Today from Megan McArdle.

JD Vance: If I become your Vice-President will I have substantial duties? Not just fluff? Trump: Absolutely. Big time. You will be doing beautiful work. Important work.

So JD Vance made an unannounced secret trip to visit Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch on Tue. of this week. Someone should tell Trump that the call might be coming from inside the house. apnews.com/article/jd-v...

Shoutout to my rep, @repdean.bsky.social, for voting against it. I suspect most of these people skate by, but some of them are going to have trouble explaining to their constituents why their biggest accomplishment in Trump 2.0 was voting for his crypto scam bill.

The House voted 308 to 122 for the GENIUS Act, the corrupt crypto industry bill to set the stage for the next financial crisis, encourage money laundering, and bless Trump's corruption. 102 Democrats voted yes, including 4 out of the 5 memberships of House Dems's Leadership Team.

As the S&P 500 keeps churning upwards, worth noting the unusual foundations of it. 40% of the market cap is in just 10 companies, and >60% of the options volume is in options expiring that day. Perhaps 0DTE traders fuel the AI bubble forever, but if they don't, well, it seems that would be bad.
Chart: the concentration in the S&P 500 has returned to extreme levels, with the top 10 companies accounting for 40% of the index’s market capitalization and a record-high share of earnings.
Goldman chart, 60-65% of SPX options are 0DTE

Most of corporate America and Wall Street is too brainless/brainwashed to realize this, but every LLM built to these specifications will irreparably broken. There's no way to guaranteed an LLM will spit out right-wing propaganda without extreme corpus data pruning and/or model overtraining.

Why did Trump order Bondi to release grand jury transcripts from the Epstein investigation? They need a judge’s permission & a judge could easily say no. That’s probably the point. Trump can say, yet again, that he tried & the courts stood in his way. Read: joycevance.substack.com/p….

I’m quoted by CBS: A request of this kind by the government is unusual, says Mitchell Epner, a partner at the NY law firm Kudman Trachten Aloe Posner & fmr federal prosecutor. "I've been in and around federal criminal cases for over 30 years. I've never heard of this before," he told CBS News.

One thing we could do with release of the Epstein files is see if "enigmas" was a regular codeword used by Epstein. It seems the sort of thing that Epstein, who fancied himself an intellectual, would do.

Indeed. The real crisis of masculinity—lots of men are selfish, whiny, irresponsible babies who fill their empty personalities with toxic masculinity—is inevitably merging with fascist politics and male fantasy aesthetics, producing "ICE agent at public park dressed for WWIII."

If you follow me or any of the other lib-mil posters, you're probably familiar with repeated discussions about the "crisis" of masculinity and idiot cops larping as Seal Team Six. What if I told you these are actually directly related to each other and oh boy this whole thing smacks of gender

It’s too late to premiere a CBS show with hero ICE agents pushing back the immigrant hordes in September, but it’s probably feasible as a mid-season replacement. Watch for it.

The same company that's buying CBS (and needs Trump's approval to do so) is also trying to buy Bari Weiss' website. It's a political decision.

I think Trump and Vance can usually get away with simply denying demonstrable reality, but I am not sure they can in this instance, because of the very atmosphere they have cultivated.

On the one hand, Trump’s recent downplaying of the Jeffrey Epstein files runs counter to the foundational myths of MAGA & Q-Anon. On the other hand, George Orwell ended Animal Farm with barnyard animals switching from “4 legs good, 2 legs bad” to “4 legs good, 2 legs better.”

Problem is that Vought is right. Not in the sense of "how the Constitution and the law have been since 1789" but in the sense of "current SCOTUS will let him do it through emergency orders without explanation." Yet another way the Roberts Court has rewritten the Constitution for Trump.

NEW: Trump’s budget chief suggested today he doesn’t need Congress or the Constitution to force through massive cuts to federal spending, as Trump demonstrates he’s “not cowing to a legislative branch’s understanding of its own authorities and powers.” www.huffpost.com/entry/russ-v...
