Yeah I've got a Mark1 and pre-ordered, but never got, a MarkII. It's too bad their backend was such a mess that even open sourcing it couldn't help. I hope to someday get it working with Home Assistant.

My outdoor pm2.5 sensor spiked last night. But there wasn't any smoke or anything here, so what was happening? I went and looked and... a spider decided to setup shop and was probibly blocking the sensor. ;) #homeassistant
A home assistant history graph showing a pm2.5 sensor almost reading 400 Ug/m^3

Woke up with a bad migraine... I wrote it off as a stress headache at first, but as I went on, I couldn't eat, then I called off, and then I puked... The meters that I had set up for Home Assistant had a very high PPM reading, and by elimination, I think that did me in.

Anyone here had a #Mycroft? I have the Mark1 which was lovely. A very basic home assistant running on a #Raspi3 with a cute face and a very robotic voice. But it was great. You could load skills and ask it questions. A while ago, Mycroft AI shut down their […] [Original post on mastodonapp.uk]

I have two PurpleAir units (www2.purpleair.com/produc…). They require power and will report to map.purpleair.com by default, but the local data is available at a REST endpoint that HomeAssistant can pull in. The AirGradient sensors are also supposed to be good: www.airgradient.com/outdoor/

The PurpleAir Flex is a rugged outdoor PM2.5 air quality monitor with dual laser particle counters, Wi-Fi connectivity, VOC sensing, and SD card data logging. User-replaceable sensors.

I'm looking for an air quality sensor that I can mount outside my home, something that uses an open data format that I can tie into Home Assistant, ideally something that uses Matter and/or Threads. Any recommendations?

Mine is a PMS5003 connected to an ESP32 and integrated into Home Assistant. For the average person I'd recommend any sort of off the shelf PM sensor instead. There are portable ones that you can carry with you and learn all about the different environments you encounter day to day.

Breathe easy, knowing that you can track and sense the quality of the air around you with the PM2.5 Air Quality Sensor with Breadboard Adapter particulate sensor. Mad Max & Furiosa ...

I did like running AdGuard Home and Tailscale in Home Assistant, so I think I'll repurpose my Raspberry Pi so that I can still run those.

Decided to give up on Home Assistant and go back to Apple Home/HomeKit. Home Assistant was great, but I quickly tired of managing regular software updates; it became another chore that I had to manage instead of a smart home that "just works."

Killer feature was Zigbee / Home Assistant support, but love the backlight on the Vindstyrka, it can double as a night light. But I see Ikea added some new items that may be worth adding to the Matter side of the Home network.
