My experience with @homeassistant has been a disaster. I welcome any guidance or tips for achieving smart light bliss in a mixed Android and iPhone home, including alternatives to Home Assistant if they might serve my use case better [โ€ฆ]

Any folks out there running HomeAssistant and OpnSense actually integrating them? I was contemplating looking at the code and trying to modernize it, possibly just for myself. It looks like there is a task for switching from DeviceScanner to ScannerEntity

D'oh! Look into Home Assistant. Seriously. Soo much better and within your local network controlled without all of the internet chatter. I remotely manage an outside network and this is the type of traffic that comes through. Four devices. Top, fourth and sixth down are Amazon. Since yesterday.

Check out the esphome project. Home Assistant Foundation bought it out a while back and it's crazy how easy it's gotten.

Welche smarte Steckdose nimmt man denn idealerweise in Verbindung mit #HomeAssistant? Habe bisher nur welche von Homematic, aber die sind pro Stรผck richtig teuer. ๐Ÿ˜…

Got Home Assistant Green and a home assistant voice. My one big Black Friday purchase was two more home assistant voice modules and an eink screen/sensor for black Friday and I am excited to play with those lol

This is what I thought Siri was gonna be when it was first announced lol Basic reasoning/context is definitely overdue in consumer products. I believe you can actually integrate LLMs into Home Assistant, though!

For geeks: I set up the scenes in the app for the lights, which are being passed to Home Assistant to run a script on schedule, one for each day. This is a slightly hacky plug in, using Govee's API and sending over MQTT. It worked perfectly in my living room, but seems a little shaky outside.

Ritual Genie 3.0 has an ESP32. Was able to successfully flash it with #esphome. This makes it to an BT proxy as well ๐Ÿ’ช and power #homeassistant while it makes a nice smelling flavor. Will work to provide an firmware with automatic update for gen 2 and 3 to power the #OpenHome

Every time @papapishu.bsky.social posts some open source, home assistant, DIY tech bullshit got me like: (please Chris I have a job and I can't spend six hours looking up how to make esp32 plant monitors, I have a cat to feed..)
Me, looking at a Chris Person thread and trying to work out how much a soldering iron will cost.
