This was the voyage that we all sailed.
Our filthy, frothing, festering hate,
a trait you lingered, laundered, lettered.

Lalalalalala my message is lettered
even when you departed and sailed,
my eyes and heart now swelters with hate.

I'll be your nemesis filled with hate
so vivid livid you have lettered
with libel defaced me which you sailed.

didn't require
a reason.

A knock was enough.
The door swung open.
Shared stories
stayed longer
than the afternoon.

Afternoons
slowly gave way
to busy lives.

We slipped
from each other's
ordinary days.

The greatest
magic trick
wasn't sawing
someone in half.

It was making
friendship disappear
in plain sight.

Friends in the Blue Sky

In this wide world of writers,
I wander through thousands of thoughtful threads,
gems cast carefully into the consciousness,
but truth be told, I don’t treasure every one.

When I share, it’s because your words
stir something sincere.
When I like, it’s because your lines
land lovingly in my heart.
When I comment, kindness isn’t a costume.
I carve my thoughts with care,
and I mean every syllable.

If I follow, it’s because your creativity
calls to me,
and I want to witness more of your wonder.
If I interact, it’s born of genuine respect,
a steady sense of friendship forming
in the spaces between our words.

You are brilliant, bold, breathtaking beings
who make this place
a living, luminous library of souls.

Why do I write?
By Stefano Carini

I do not wish to write
to be known and seen,
not for validation,
not even for me.

I do not need to know
if I’m good or bad
in shaping words.

For what it’s worth,
I am no more than a shadow
dancing in the darkness,
a flicker of fire—lightless.

I write because I must;
as words are embers of my soul,
and still, they are the distance
inside my own infinity.

And we are countless drops
made of the same saltwater
yet, unaware—locked
in distant gardens.

How lovely it would be
to cross the ivy bridge
with you—fellow artist,
and make of our lacks and gifts
a single echo in the blue.

But even when I say that to you,
the words return to me—
they are the very distance
within me.

Covenant

The summer sun slipped
Past the point where it sets.
We sat, not paying any attention,
As we, wished and waited,
Wandering through our
Recklessness in retrospect.
Trying to find a joy for today
In yesterday's yearnings,
But we only found yesterday,
And in all the things
We said that we would do
We saw what we did not do
And in all the things
We said that we would not do
We saw what we did.
We sat as the sky slid
Into night, never doubting
Tomorrow was another tomorrow
And new promises
Could condition our camaraderie.
A new covenant, cemented,
In cigar smoke
Plastic bottle whiskey
And a more careful recklessness
