chapter for that lol and i was hoping for parallels with bungo but there was nothing 😭 idk maybe they'll focus on it in a later chapter but in this chapter at least, wakki was done dirty.
and yeah for maeda, all his writing is the same and he doesn't get why some is considered good and some bad

ruka lucked out by getting to be herself so what we got wasn't bad and it's just that a lot of things went unaddressed. but the thing with wakki is that 90% of her character before this was bungo so if they hadn't given her amnesia, her pondering the possibility of leaving bungo like ruka did in 5.1

was a stroke of genius and maeda failed to pinpoint what actually made it good. perhaps there could be a way to draw parallels between wakki's amnesia and bungo's periodic memory loss but idk man. right now i just don't think it's good in any way

tbh before i started this part of the chapter and saw they were going down this route i did think that maybe they'd try to play with something like a desire for "normalcy" (since wakki wants to get out of this endless loop she's stuck with bungo) which i would've found more interesting... so the

meanwhile ruka's and wakki's arcs, while framed as development, didn't feel like development to me. ruka's arc at least helped her resolve things even if i didn't feel any real growth but wakki's arc... i can only hope that a future bungo arc retroactively makes it meaningful in some form

the thing about the amnesia trope is that it's just a plot device and it's up to the writer to make it meaningful to the character but this was the equivalent of wakki becoming the blank slate protag of a gacha game 😔 i think it's bc they didn't want to ruin her relationship with bungo so they
