Well they are nearly there. Shame RBA. I can't believe our economic system wants to people living below the poverty line. @albomp.bsky.social @jimchalmers.bsky.social @tanyaplibersekmp.bsky.social Raise the rate and increase rent assistance so people are living about e the Henderson poverty line.

If the RBA governor wants higher unemployment she should say ... oh hang on www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06...

I’m not sure you’re addressing the creating a funding stream argument. Shouldn’t cost neutrality be the driver? Why not just a private company to deal with parking abuses? It’s standard elsewhere, even in small housing blocks, after all. No admin costs at all and no barrier to staff/public.

I don’t understand how increasing demand with a basic income would lower the cost of housing. When housing is too expensive, it is also a sign of a mismatch between supply and demand. Portugal started subsidizing home loans for young citizens. No new supply and surprise? Cost went up.

While my basic needs are met and I fear no loss of housing, As embarrassed as I feel saying this, I need to remind people that these projects cost a lot of money to develop, to maintain & to expand where necessary.

I saw some crazy redditor post a scheme to game the housing market and in it they said they checked it with chatGPT, so I copied & pasted their post and asked AI for a reply to send them "This is a great idea! Heres why..." No I think its a bad idea "You know what, you're right! Heres why..."

The alternative is pretty horrible, i don't think it would make anything better to be forced into a position of scavenging or commiting crime to make rent or to put food on the table, but that's where this is heading and we can all see it, bike thefts, burgulary, grifting. It's all symptoms.

It's everywhere, any time I see an article from a local newspaper on new housing developments you get those deranged comments.

If you think developers are making too much money building homes, you should tax their incomes instead of blocking needed new housing.

They're treating housing like a distribution problem when it's a production problem. You can't split up what doesn't exist. Build more. That's how you actually help people. 5/5

They're demanding perfect while blocking good. Result - nothing gets built, prices keep going up, and those same working families they say they care about get pushed further and further out. They're treating this like we need to decide who deserves housing instead of just building enough. 4/

What they really want is government-funded housing instead of private development. Cool, but then explain how you pay for that without the tax money that comes from new buildings. And explain how you get voters to support massive public housing programs when you're fighting every apartment. 3/

Because here's what actually happens when we don't build enough apartments and houses: prices go up for everybody. Rich people, poor people, everyone gets squeezed. The "for whom" question acts like we can somehow create affordable housing for poor people, but magically not for anyone else. 2/

1.4M of the nation's poorest renters risk losing their homes with Trump's proposed HUD time limit

A Trump administration proposal could put more than a million low-income households at risk of losing their government-subsidized housing.

Comments like these are very common on any news about housing on facebook...people convinced the houses are all going to "imagrqnts" (??)
Comments suggesting that new housing will go to immigrants and refugees.
Comments suggesting that new housing will go to immigrants and refugees.
Comments suggesting that new housing will go to immigrants and refugees, with a very creative (?) spelling of the word "immigrants"

At some point, you can risk a user "driving the hud", instead of "driving the vehicle", so to speak. This is how all BVR combat works, beyond visual range: You read the HUD like a phone-game with representations and steer the vehicle to line markers up.

Housing law incl "biased toward tenants" SF Rent Ordinance is crafted to appear to do things it doesn't. Examples: 1. rent increases compound; the rate of increase grows the longer a tenant stays. 2. If T sues LL, that's a defense against a later suit by T (see "Litigious tenant")
