@cbssundaymorning.bsky.social I think most of us are generally fed up with watching stories about rich people! With all the people who are food insecure and housing insecure, it was outrageous to me that you had stories featuring people showing off their homes to architectural Digest!

It needs something. Maybe not oligopoly levels of “few”, but the industry could definitely could use some “depersonalization”/commodification. Pretty faces of real estate agents shouldn’t be what is selling homes.

"if housing the homeless makes more Torontonians feel safer in their neighbourhoods, then simply add it to the long list of reasons our leaders should be making that an urgent priority." - @thekeenanwire.bsky.social www.thestar.com/opinion/s….

The recent period of relatively low violence in the city has been remarkable — yet it hasn’t been much remarked upon.

I saw a similar article but I’m not sure how much stock I put in it but real estate is hyper local. SoCal but not including places like Riverside the IE because they get hit first and hardest but how remains to be seen because still have a housing shortage and people with money.

Freakonmics podcast tackled the Macy’s TDP legacy topic which comes down to real estate holdings, tradition and sponsors. Its future is a struggle with little upside in a fractured political, financial and moral hellscape.

People can say we did not know about personal computing and social media effecting society, economic parity, and corruption but we know now. We know that most e-commerce was fueled by greed, taking money from communities and putting it into the fewest hands. Stocks, housing, futures. Regulate AI Now

@repsuhas.bsky.social is right to ring the alarm… Congress has to make AI a priority. Legislators let social media go unregulated and we all see the fallout. It’s the Wild West. We cannot let the same thing happen with AI. If Congress sleeps on this, we’re in trouble.

Does this not happen elsewhere? I assumed it was because students are poor, which they also are in other counties. What’s the standard housing situation in other countries?

Aside from the fact that Zillow is a shithole corrupt organization, this is directly an attack on consumers. Insurance payments, long term value, and maintenance costs of a home are all effected by climate change and should be disclosed on every real estate listing.

Lol, Zillow tried to rate the climate risks facing individual properties. The real estate industry *hated* it, precisely because it worked -- it made selling risky properties more difficult. So they rebelled & Zillow caved. Don't look up!

WAPO's editors have lost their minds. I swear the Pitchbot wrote this! Prices aren’t coming down — and here’s why it would be a problem if they did Although Americans might be clamoring for relief on groceries, housing and energy costs, economists say there’s a bigger downside to falling prices.

Yes affordable Healthcare would be nice but right now I am more concerned with Affordable Housing and food. Without either one Healthcare doesn't really matter.

seems like real estate values buyer ignorance, you see on it all sorts of issues, even though that means the better properties are undervalued

Sounds like the other real estate sites that display the data allow sellers to selectively hide the risk scores. Seems that Zillow at least didn’t go down that road…

This hour on BlueSky: Zillow's attempt to rate climate risks for properties faced backlash from the real estate industry, resulting in its removal. Reaction: Mixed opinions as some supported holding sellers accountable for risks while others criticized limiting property sales. Mood: 😬🏡

Article gives key context: Public housing often segregated by race until the 1968 Fair Housing Act passed. Shortly after, Nixon issued moratorium on future PH construction & 1990s-era federal program to rebuild and modernize PH replaced only 1/2 the units it tore down. Thousands of units were lost.

I know this is a shocking thing to say but the Herald's habit of assuming extra housing is inherently negative has me wondering if it might have some kind of editorial slant on urban issues
Herald saying government requiring more housing = "harsher" rules
Herald saying nine storeys "might not be the worst of it" and taller buildings could be on their way in Freemans Bay

Yes, I have never seen it. Maybe a mention of STC for walls in condo developments. Real estate is painfully blinkered into the visual (like architecture.)
