I believe this comic was tied to Atlas/Marvel in some way. It would later revive Captain America, Sub-Mariner, and the Human Torch. Having said that, I find this cover fascinating for 1951, but not sure what to make of it.

Not supported, tethered. Watch some old Atlas videos. The unit is attached to the gantry overhead to catch it when it falls over and avoid damage, not actively support it. And RL track with imperfect surface, uneven daylight, shifting background is a big step up from prepared interior space.

They most certainly are. I have one tattooed on me. I had hoped to see an atlas moth, but there were none yet hatched.

Since LVOS, ULA has also mated all 5 SRB's and stacked the Centaur Upper Stage atop the Atlas V rocket for the Amazon Leo LA-06 mission. The payload fairing was also spotted being moved to SLC-41 today, which is a great sign launch is on track for NET April 27th.

The main one I’m referring to here is that while it’s true the Air Force decided against Convair as prime for Atlas, WDD used an intermediary, Ramo-Wooldridge (which would become TRW) to coordinate the vast early ICBM projects. Convair and others resented this, with some good reason, in my view.
