I *think* I’m managing to organise a lot of my thoughts about ‘Star Pilots’ for the future podcasts. There are loads of themes & topics I can’t wait to talk about. But honestly some of it, I’m still really not even sure what to say or where to start. I’ve got 2 months to figure it out I guess!

So thinking about this, I reckon I've now got just a couple of months to figure out how to talk about the book in interviews/podcasts etc. It was a challenge with 'Rise and Fall' to not give away the reality of the book. I think that 'Star Pilots' might cause me similar issues.

😂 I once went to a reception at the Royal Thames Yacht Club where Commodore planning Trafalgar 200 review was being grilled on size of RN. He was very patient but finally snapped out that a single - conventional - submarine today has more firepower than the 300 ships at Victoria’s diamond jubilee

I once had an article (about FWW centenary) rejected - it was commissioned by a journal - but the readers didn't like my conclusions so I was asked to rewrite it. I told them what to do with their request. Was going to place it elsewhere but can't remember if I bothered.

I have been lucky beyond my wildest dreams in my academic career. However, we all have to learn how to handle rejections: with applications for jobs; for grants; and today it was an article submission. It’s not fun, not always easy, but it’s important to remember it’s just part of the gig. #lucky
