Told my mum I wanted to be a scientist at 10; ended up a science journalist. That counts…right? But hi, I’ll be @nytimes.com’ new China Science Correspondent. If you are a Chinese scientist in China, outside China, on the fence, floating around…I’d love to hear what you are working on!

I'm delighted to hear that people are enjoying the new Mystic Nine series so much (loved the 2016 one). Did you know that you can read about these larger-than-life characters in English in Nanpai Sanshu's novella, Records of Xiangxi 湘西往事 which I selected for Sinophagia? 1/ #ghostmonth #chinese #sff

The Lake Ontario situation was a joke, but now resembles the PRC’s aggressive policies re Taiwan. PRC demands websites, official orgs call Taiwan “Taiwan (China)” or “China’s Taiwan”: many comply. The U.S. now demands organizations & websites call Lake Ontario “Lake America”. Google & others comply.

——苏菲·理查森,人权捍卫者网络联席执行主任 阅读全文: nchrd.org/2026/08/chin...
