Another round of garden ROYGBV. It's overcast and 60 with no rain, the perfect weather to wander the garden. Let's start with red. #bloomscrolling π±
#NativePlants continuing to deliver #FantasticFoliage & some even starting to bloom: Asarum canadense (Wild Ginger), Arisaema triphyllum (Jack in the Pulpit), Hydrastis canadensis (Goldenseal) in bloom, & Hydrophyllum virginianum (Virginia Waterleaf) in bud. Swoon! π₯°

π± More plants that popped the past couple days! Non Native bleeding heart from neighbors, and I am just *thrilled* that this butterfly weed a friend gave me is thriving! Also pleased to announce that the squirrels only dug up and ate one of my wild geranium Roots, and the other three are happy!
Perennial candytuft, iberis semprvirens (part of the #cabbagefamily as it happens π) with a tiny fly who may be feeding on nectar or is maybe just getting a drink from one of those water droplets π±

Thanks to my wonderful friend at Palm Oil Detectives @palmoildetect.bsky.social , I will! She has done so much to try to help save our beautiful earth. π±ππΏ
Good afternoon. Ditch pretty: native π± Spider Milkweed
(Asclepias viridis) mdc.mo.gov/discover-nat... getting ready to bloom at lake park. I tried growing these from seeds last year. They germinated, grew to nice sized seedlings. But we went on travels and they died, probably lack of water.
You have a pretty little spot there, very sweet. ππ I hope that you are able to free your large ceramic pots and garden stuff: π±β Freedom! π πΏ. It sounds as if you are being creative with your old baskets and boxes in the meantime. I bet it will be so lovely this summer!
To see prop roots on a larger scale, look to the palms and pandans. π·1: Clinostigma harlandii, a palm. π·1: Pandanus sp (to get an idea of the scale of this giant, check out the green cap in the lower left). #Arecaceae#Pandanaceae#root#Botany πΎπ§ͺπ±
