Happy birthday, Pandora's Tower! Released 15 years ago today in Japan. This is one of the games I've loved the most in the four years we've had a Wii and been digging through its library. One of the first Wii games Kit and I completed. And yeah, it's pretty special stuff. 💜

Ultimately this is the most important story in British politics and much of the world - the Iran war is putting pressure on real wages, which people will blame on the incumbent government.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a snail climbs up onto a frisbee laying in the grass. The snail says, “what a strange flower
” Panel 2: the frisbee is lifted off the ground by a person standing outside of the frame. The snail, still perched on the edge of the frisbee, remarks, “eh?” Panel 3: the snails eye stalks are blown backwards as it is suddenly thrusted forward. From the snail’s perspective, it looks like stars stretching radially from the center, as if traveling at warp speed.

I enjoyed the challenge of boiling down almost 38,000 words from the Pope about AI into a little under 1,500 words--and now I'm enjoying seeing what parts of that encyclical other people have highlighted in their own writeups. (Leo XIV's Tolkien reference does seem to come up a lot.)

In his debut encyclical, the first American pope calls on people, developers, and governments to ensure AI serves humanity first. He also quotes from an unlikely source.
