If you think the nuclear-powered supercarrier USS Gerald R. Ford is the most powerful ship in the world, you are wrong. It's actually the German cruise ship Mein Schiff 4 (pictured), which successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend

1/ There's a system of ocean currents in the Atlantic that shapes Europe's #climate, drives monsoons, and keeps sea levels stable along the US coast. In the last 5 years, the scientific evidence that it could collapse has shifted dramatically. Most people have no idea. 🧵
Globe showing the Atlantic Ocean with arrows depicting the AMOC circulation: warm surface currents (pink/red) flowing northward from the tropics toward the Arctic, and cold deep return currents (blue/purple) flowing southward. The background shows sea surface temperature trends, with a prominent blue cold patch, the "cold blob", south of Greenland, contrasting with warming (orange/red) across the rest of the ocean.

Absolutely incredible. NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone. Watch with sound on.

A screenshot of iOS messages showing a conversation with a user named Mom:

“Please come back to the group chat. We are making thanksgiving plans and we need your input.”

“As I said in the group chat, you shouldn't be using iMessagw. Signal is better Opsec. Once everyone starts taking that seriously you know where to find me.”

“Gam Gam is 92. She barely knows how to use the phone she has.”

“She needs to adapt”

Browsing this company's website and the only way I can describe what I'm seeing is imagine a school shooter was a management consultant

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

Had some leftover bechamel and pepperoni from last night so: garbage pizza with random wilted veggies from the fridge
Uncooked pizza on a pan, top down. Bechamel cheese sauce, roasted peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, broccoli, onions pepperoni and a little more mozz on top for good measure
Same pizza, no cooked. Some burnt cheese around the edges

Maya Angelou on the joys of being edited
I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again
