Meeting Anna Zivarts at last week's @movementyvr.bsky.social event led to great conversations about equity in transportation planning. We won't achieve Vision Zero in #NewWest without centering human design & considering the increasing number of people for whom driving is not an option.

No doubt Bezos is certain that yacht ownership is a better qualification for public office than lack of car ownership. The 99% of us of course would be better served by someone who actually would personally benefit from improved public transit.

"She does not own a car." In a way, this is actually quite funny, but mostly, the people who write this stuff would go apoplectic if anyone judged their life the way they judged other people's.

“By halting the development of new homes and fighting the state’s attempts to reform zoning, L.A. officials risk repeating mistakes from the past — only this time, with half a million more people needing a place to live.”
Los Angeles desperately needs new housing. So why are its politicians still fighting SB79?

HUD now requires unhoused people get treatment or enroll in other services if they want federally-funded permanent housing. Oregon providers say that conflicts with the state's funding requirements - forcing them to choose between federal or state dollars www.investigatewest.org/o….

🚗🏘️ New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell’s newest strategy to address the city’s housing crisis is a pair of proposals to slash parking requirements for new apartment buildings and make it easier to build on small lots. But skeptical city councilors may question his plans. #NewBedford #housing #parking

The ordinances, going before the council Nov. 20, would reduce the amount of parking required for new developments and make it easier to build on small vacant lots.

I see we’re talking about platform screen doors today. Full-height doors are good for noise reduction and climate control in underground stations (if you need that), but they’re also more expensive. When in doubt, be like Japan www.japantimes.co.jp/wp-c….
