circling back to the atproto spaces thread because bnewbold's signing-key answer settled one thing but not this: why does non-deniability matter especially for group membership, and not an ordinary post? a post can be disavowed as never yours.

Sleep deprived Pokémon worlds from memory I’m gonna sleep for 12 days, I’m so exhausted. #pokemon #pokemonworlds #pikachu #doodles
6 Pokémon world doodles. Going left to right starting from the top is champion chud alpha pikachu, amoongus with menacing aura, scrap, hydreigon with little guy but I accidentally gave em a baseball cap instead of a captains hat, gay space pikachu, tiny umbreon on the rings of Saturn, and rocket charizard

Finally found some time this weekend to add some long overdue features: oauth, better record UX, and the ability to delete records. Next on the list: ability to create and update existing records. No ETA on support for ATProto spaces yet, but it's on my mind :)

Hot on the heels of our OAuth update, you can now use atproto-browser to delete records in your PDS! 🗑️ www.atproto-browser.dev

NASA Astronomy Hourly Picture - 2021-06-26: Pixels in the Sun #Astronomy #NASA #Space
These two panels, composed of video frames made with a safe solar telescope and hydrogen alpha filter, show remarkably sharp details on the solar disk and giant prominences along the Sun's edge on June 6 (top) and June 18. Taken from Beijing, China, they also show a transit of the International Space Station and China's new Tiangong Space Station in silhouette against the bright Sun. The International Space Station is near center in the bottom panel, crossing the solar disk left of bright active region AR2833 and below a large looping solar filament. China's space station is below solar active region AR2827 and right of center in the top panel, seen as a smaller, combined "+" and "-" shape. The pictures of the transiting orbital outposts were taken with the same equipment and at the same pixel scale, with the International Space Station some 492 kilometers away. China's space station was over 400 kilometers from the camera.

I'm so excited for ATProto Spaces, because it'll make making small little niche apps for your friends and loved ones so much easier. Recipe sharing, family calendar sharing, photo sharing, so on and so fort.

Watching young Gen Z/Gen Alpha move in social spaces is wiiiiild. From a clinical lens I can see it as a self centeredness, lack of external awareness, and lack of social skills that comes from survival and trauma. From a millennial trained by boomers perspective I see lack of respect and rudeness.

with a bit of perspective, I wanted to write this post which reintroduces spaces as a new primitive for atproto! spaces are a deeply social & "atmospheric" primitive & I kinda think they uniquely thread the needle on our design goals

Reintroducing Spaces

Now with better perspective, zooming out and re-motivating the design of spaces, the new primitive for non-public data on atproto.

Khan recognized Chekov in Wrath of Khan, but Chekov was not on the show when Space Seed premiered. The character must have been a lower decker before his promotion to alpha shift navigator.

Alpha School is moving into the same Jamaica Plain space vacated by a *different* failed, for-profit private school. I hope that property is just cursed and one day reverts back to its natural state as a neighborhood grocery store.

Oh so you really know jack shit about kids, pedagogy, education… www.scientificamerican.com/article/alph...

When Carl Hendrick took his first ride in a Waymo, the self-driving taxi service, he thought it felt a lot like the future of education.

Hendrick is a senior learning scientist at Alpha School, a buzzy private-school company where he trains artificial intelligence models to teach students—a process, he says, that is not unlike training a self-driving car.
For such a car, “it was just thousands and thousands of miles, training itself on data, and not just on a linear path. The challenge is in all the different eventualities, like the cyclist who’s wobbling in the road, the kid running out,” he says. “I think, in five or 10 years, a similar thing will happen in education where we train AI models on learning and all of kids’ misconceptions and problems.”

For Alpha School, the equivalents to the swerving bikes and unexpected pedestrians are more like misconceptions, learning differences or preteen classroom struggles. And the “cars” the company is testing have 10-year-olds in the backseat.

For developers and early adopters: I am building a Discord + Reddit-like platform on ATProto Spaces. It is currently under development, so expect frequent breaking changes and data wipes. Give it a try on a Spaces-compatible PDS! space.tokimeki.blue/

Finally was able to sit down and try this out. I had a few records floating around in my repo from testing sites that I wanted to remove. The UI of Aturi made it VERY easy to do so. Definitely something to keep bookmarked.

You can now edit your atproto spaces data with Aturi! Try it: aturi.to/explore/spaces If you’re already signed in, you may need to re-authenticate to pick up the new permission scopes.
