if @bsky.app introduced a "Zen Mode" — what do you think it would be? what problem would you want it to solve?

Roughly implemented the internal render language for my presentation tool Twirl. This small example renders a text that slowly fades in and a line with a different color using #raylib and #rustlang. The next hard part will be the rendering of the markdown input.

Recent MDPI paper including diagram of a bacterial cell with a mitochondrion 🤦‍♀️ The authors propose a mechanism for the toxicity of silver nanoparticles: "Ag+ ions in AgNPs bombard the bacterial mitochondria’s electron transport chain, resulting in cell death".

put another way: i don't want your data—not just from an ideological "users should be in control" perspective, but from a pragmatic "this makes my app harder and more expensive to run" perspective we've been so focused on making it easy to scale up that we've accidentally made it hard to scale down

i like making little web apps for myself/family/friends. the most annoying parts — the parts that drastically increase the scope, from "a bunch of HTML, CSS & JS files" to "a web server and database" — are auth+persistence. so i am very excited about atproto including a user-owned solution for both.

I get why TechCrunch would write it this way, but I largely disagree with this framing. The broad conversation here is about power, respect, control and whether the voices of the vulnerable are taken seriously. This is the story of a leader and a team showing that they don’t get that.

A waffle-centric controversy underlines ongoing tensions between Bluesky and some of its most vocal users.

It annoys me when UX is subtly wrong because it is naive. Case in point, the bluesky and discord emoji pickers. If you type :thumb or search for "thumb" while completing emoji/reactji, it renders the list in alphabetical order. meaning 👎 comes before 👍. 99% of the time you want 👍 instead of 👎.
