Another enjoyable year delivering #IMC2026 with colleagues at @imc-leeds.bsky.social.
Already looking forward to #IMC2027, and finding time to catch up with session recordings!

Extremely proud of our little group that made The Middle Ages in Modern Games a fixture at the IMC Leeds.
Here's to more conferences and gaming adventures!

After the success of this year's iteration of Arms, Armour, and the Arts of Combat at the @imc-leeds.bsky.social , it's time to begin planning for next year. Please do circulate amongst any relevant parties. #imc2026#imc2027
What a fantastic first #IMC2026!
Presenting my research, meeting medievalists from around the world, and discovering new perspectives made this an unforgettable experience. Thanks to @combatarchaeology and @anachronalia for two brilliant workshops. Hope to be back in 2028!
I had a wonderful time being part of the @imc-leeds.bsky.social team this year at #IMC2026. It was so rewarding to be able to help make IMC a special experience for the delegates, exhibitors, and performers. Now I get to watch the recordings of sessions I wanted to see but couldn't attend in person!
Still coming down from all the excitement of #imc2026! Always so energising and inspiring to hear about the amazing research which is happening despite the difficulties of the current political/cultural moment. Imagine what we could do with more funding and less fascism!
An honour to participate in the panels remembering Walter Goffart @ #IMC2026, organised by @drdragases.bsky.social, speaking alongside those who shaped my understanding of the field. I responded to recent efforts to revive notions of a shared "Germanic cultural koine" via the post-Roman lawcodes.
While that's it for #IMC2026, I now turn my thoughts to the next one... if anyone is interested in the processes by which early medieval gentes were defined in discourse, don't hesitate to contact me here or at samueldavid.rowe[at]studenti.unipd.it!
I just decid sto watch back my #IMC2026 talk and see what I could improve on, and honestly I was quite chuffed! I definitely need to say "er" a bit less (though it got noticeably less frequent as the talk went on), and I forgot one of the two points I was making... 1/2
Leaving Leeds today after a packed #IMC2026. Many thanks to @kateweikert.bsky.social for organizing 2 fantastic, generative sessions on the agency of things through time (and for introducing me to “large cat” as a unit of measurement)!
Did you know proposals are open for IMC 2027?
Whether a chat at #IMC2026 has turned into a full-blown session proposal or you've been experiencing FOMO from this year's excitement, you can get your submissions in early by visiting our website: www.imc.leeds.ac.uk/imc-2027/
#IMC2026 is over! With moderating two great panels on comics, giving a paper on comparative dragon episodes, and chairing the @necron-network.bsky.social roundtable, it was busy busy but oh so fun! Thank you to everyone who came to one of my many events and already looking forward to 2027!
And so ends another excellent @imc-leeds.bsky.social Tolkien at Leeds 2026 with brilliant sessions, great fellowship and three new books to read! See you next year! #IMC2026
Went to my first #IMC2026. Gave papers. Chaired sessions. Listened to all the fantastic presenters. Caved and got on Bluesky. Had an absolutely wonderful time. But most importantly: played and got all the games ✨️
I (and my books!) are safely ensconced at home once more. #IMC2026 was a genuinely great (though thoroughly tiring) experience, and it was so nice to see familiar faces, meet people whose names I knew, and meet entirely new people altogether.
Finishing my first in person IMC. Got to hear a ton of amazing papers/research and meet a few lovely people, and a falcon. Now to refrain from trying to do all the research ideas that hit me this week.
