From 1975, Joy of Cooking SWEET POTATOES AND FRUIT 6 Servings This tart dish is exceptionally good with roast pork, baked ham or game. Cook covered until nearly done in boiling water to cover: 6 medium-sized sweet potatoes Peel and cut them into ½-inch slices. Cook covered until nearly done in a very little boiling water: 1½ to 2 cups thinly sliced apples If the apples are not tart, sprinkle them with: Lemon juice Preheat oven to 350° Grease a baking dish and place in it alternate layers of apples and sweet potatoes. Sprinkle the layers with: ½ cup or more brown sugar A dash cinnamon or grated lemon rind (2 tablespoons seedless raisins) (2 tablespoons chopped pecans) Dot with: ¼ cup butter Pour over the top: ½ cup of the apple water or water Bake about 30 minutes. Or you may omit the sugar and substitute for the apples: 1/2 cup puréed, sweetened apricots, 127, Sauce Cockaigne, 770, or crushed pineapple

Kochen mit den Nachbarn: Es gibt fabada asturiana nach dem Rezept des spanischen Kommissars Carvalho (M. Vazquez Montalban). Immer wieder lecker 😋 @gingerbear1.eurosky.social

Zutaten: bunte Bohnen aus eigener Ernte, Tomaten, Zwiebeln, Knoblauch, Speck, Blutwurst, eine Flasche spanischer Rotwein, Anislikör (gab nur Ouzo)
Topf am Dreibein über der Feuerschale. Zuerst werden Speck, Zwiebeln und Knoblauch angebraten
Nächste Kochphase: Tomaten, Bohnen und Kräuterstrauß mit Zimtstange
Fertige gekochte Suppe, mit Wein und Ouzo abgerundet

Sunday supper and meal prep: Fried rice with mushrooms, onions, zucchini, peppers, garlic, ginger, Chinese sausage, egg, and green onions. Scalloped potatoes, pan fried ribeyes, and sauteed mushrooms, onions, and garlic. Made chicken salad earlier and some quick cucumber pickles. Yummy!❤️😋🍽️🍜
