What a week it's been

I genuinely believe there are those who don’t really want accountability. Making better choices and fixing problems isn’t enough for some. It’s “too soft”. Some are too eager to punish and shame, a spectacle and a game where every wrong is equal and forever. The only winning move is not to play.

I know a lot of people say social media is bad and I agree to an extent, but I know I will always need it because I enjoy interacting with the people who enjoy my content. I can’t imagine just abandoning that, I love you all too much (the streamer is parasociaaaal)

For clarity - I deleted the post about the “death threat.” It was probably by a troll - though I took it a bit more seriously that I perhaps ought to have done since it’s the first time someone’s ever sent me something like that.

The part that frustrates me the most is that - very often - when a major accusation is ultimately proven to be exaggerated/outright false, the people who started it simply go, “Oops! My bad” And that’s if they say ANYTHING. There is no proper closure or repair, and those who gossiped just move on.

If not an outright troll farm, there’s definitely trolling happening here; at the very least, it’s indistinguishable from it. I’ve seen multiple accounts on BlueSky that are either entirely new or haven’t posted in months or years commenting exclusively to shame us for things we’ve addressed.

Oh yeah. I’ve also had some pretty awful experiences with people like that. The most vindictive people I know also tend to have some pretty awful skeletons in their closets, too, and often unchecked: either they’re proud of them, oblivious to the harm they cause, or deliberately hiding them.

I have received many threats of genuine harm, alongside many hundreds of messages harassing and dehumanizing me - plus edgelords trying to doxx and harass me relentlessly. I suppose I have to let this happen and not complain because this is accountability.

I know I usually do a lot of collab streams these days, but I still enjoy a nice long single player experience from time to time. For those who don't know, I only did solo streams for the first 6 or so years. It's nice to return to that now and then :) (Art: @gaelfox.bsky.social)
