A teenager is found mangled in the woods. The adults call it a bear attack and expect everyone to move on. Mike knows the story does not fit what they found. Inheritance: books2read.com/inheritanc… Paperback and ebook available now. 🩸📚 #BookSky #HorrorBooks
Inheritance promotional card with a tilted mock police report tinted dark green and burgundy. The background comically repeats that a bear was responsible and deflects to the Leafs. Large cream text reads: Mike doesn't believe the bear attack story. But the adults really need him to. A coming-of-age small-town horror header, Tyler Newell's antlered-creature cover, Paperback plus ebook available now and the title identify the novel.

365 Short Stories in 365 Days 157/365 The Devil's New Year by Stephen Graham Jones Jones' stream of consciousness style is very effective here with a psychologically disturbing POV character #nowreading #booksky #horrorbooks

Sorry for passing the past few. They've been triggering to me (I have PTSD) and I have been dealing with some blowback from medication changes, so haven't felt as social. I hope everyone else had a good time, and look forward, hopefully, to the next #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat The living scare me, not the dead. The realities of wars that simply will not & do not ever end is the most frightening (& depressing) concept that is actually all too real in our current global reality. The idea that that's fiction is a luxury. I would write in hope to end that.

A shudder jolts through your body. You look at him. His last tears roll down his muddy cheeks. He is dead. Take your answers to questions 2 & 3, and pitch us a horror story about a war from a perspective you would consider the most frightening! #HorrorWritersChat

He is dead.

It is featuring a helmeted and gas masked soldier charging at the perceiver, spiked mace in hand. Powerful explosions can be seen behind him, illuminating the trenches in which the character is positioned.

#HorrorWritersChat I explored these very aspects in Miss Violet and the Great War, my Strangely Beautiful finale. I traveled fields of Verdun, France. I just wept. I walked through a forest that had been a village WWI wiped from existence. Writing about loss of self + eternal PTSD = my key baseline.

His shivering, tear-dimmed eyes stare at you. At that red cross plastered over your chest. You can't breathe. He's your first. Wars scar soldiers' souls forever. How would you explore that in a psychological horror about war? The loss of self, the flashbacks, or something else? #HorrorWritersChat

Darling #HorrorWritersChat! I've been on 2 book deadlines (will note titles at the end) + travel & Gothic lectures, but it's good to see you! I write Gothic, Gaslamp Fantasy full of ghosts & non-fiction about the importance of ghost lore. A wartime narrative that gutted me most is Pan's Labyrinth 😭

And there you are again. With a blink, flames scythe across the copse, now a deep trench. Explosions rattle your skull, blurring your vision. Your hand is heavy. With his head. Again. Tell us who you are, what do you write, and what is your favourite depiction of war in horror? #HorrorWritersChat
