i dont know if its a good idea to mention Mattress (the RDF/AS2 on atproto project i did once) on my linkedin but at this point i think i shouldnt not mention another project validating my golang usage and/or skills

This is actually a great idea. I think atproto spaces opens up the possibility for this.

Also, I was talking about ATProto Spaces here mu.social/profile/aiue... A lot of my friends don’t know each other, so Bluesky Spaces wouldn’t be a solution for me unless they all want to join an “aiueo’s friends” group or something. (Colossally bad idea to name them both Spaces imo)

I’m hoping Spaces will make a difference there. I plan on contacting everyone I can to let them know when private accounts are a thing—assuming Spaces can indeed be used that way

This is also my biggest concern with going all-in on ATProto in general. I love love love the idea of ATProto, but it would really suck to lose everything because I misspoke on Bluesky or something. I still use some non-ATProto services as a kind of mirror for ATProto ones, just in case

I was thinking about atproto more and had a thought: no one needs to know or care about the protocol. we just need to normalize the idea that it’s bonkers to allow any company to own part of your identity it’s like how you used to lose your phone number if you switched carriers. that sucked

i have explained atproto to many normal people and they all nod tentatively and say "huh that sounds cool". its not that complicated, people generally like the idea, theres just a huge amount of inertia to overcome to switch platforms

The idea that "we have time" to explain to people how to use ATProto to free themselves & their communities from third-party control is a plainly conceited one; it demonstrates a lack of discipline toward the goal and a willingness to sacrifice many along the way who get bitten. Their loss I guess!
