I'm gonna throw in my two cents. It's okay to like a game without claiming to be a fan of it's entire genre. You can like Expedition 33 without being a dedicated JRPG fan.
All these people claiming otherwise are keeping that gate with their life, and they don't want you liking "their" games.

looking at game awards stuff (I know, sorry) and kinda just feeling sorry for the Expedition 33 devs lol. I mean I'm sure they're pretty happy with the reception but also I don't get the impression they wanted to be a subject of constant discourse

I want to word this in a way that doesn’t diminish the incredible talent on display in Expedition 33, but I strongly believe that entrants for categories like this should nominate their entire cast, with one or two “keystone” actors to put front and centre, without eating half the nomination slots.

THAT BEING SAID my plan also includes finishing the Trails Crossbell arc before Kiwami 3 releases

I think the funniest thing about JRPG fans getting mad at Expedition 33 and saying stuff like "Colonizer 33" is that JRPG was coined by people who actually made fun of RPGs from Japan and a fair amount of Japanese developers HATE that term. The Japanese literally just call them RPGs.

You know what I'm just gonna say what I'm feeling. I might be annoyed that they used ai assets for a placeholder in Expedition 33 but it did get patched out and I feel like all this energy should be focused on ARC Raiders and games like it and not a game that's made with so much heart.

Since I do backlog years, I always feel left out at the end of the year due to everyone talking about the new games they played. I can't really take part in any discussions since I didn't play Expedition 33 or Death Stranding 2 etc😅
But at least I got to experience so much for the first time💜 :,)

Not sure why people are getting upset about 3 Expedition 33 VOs getting Game Award Nominations when Troy Baker channeled the Holy Spirit of Harrison Ford (still alive) within him and SHOULD be the runaway favorite anyway

Started playing Xenogears since many people have noted its inspiration and DNA flowing in Expedition 33...and because I heard it has mechs, and I love the mech genre.
One hour into the game, and I'm finally beginning to understand this meme I saw several months back... 😔

My hot take of the year is that while I really liked Expedition 33, I didn't find it to be a "game-industry shattering experience", and I think the overhype will hurt whatever sequel or next project they have on the oven.
