Falmouth gets remembered as one bartender's brainchild — Tommy Leonard, the man with the monument. But Leonard popularized the race; he didn't organize that first 1973 running alone. The people who actually made it happen got written out of the plaque. #Running #RunningHistory #Falmouth #TheLongRun

The Falmouth Road Race — The Tommy Leonard Problem

A Cape Cod bartender's idea for a road race lands in the midst of the US running boom, but the monument to Tommy Leonard, the man who popularized the event, erases the crucial roles of others who made it happen.

First Beartooth Hwy run since winter closure. All good, no big rock-falls yet 👍🏽. Ran 1st switchback 2300m-2500m then back, quick 10K. Sundance and I both little tired from yest., but worth it. Windy in Rock Crk. Canyon, gale force W winds on return. #climate #running #dogs #montana #gye #mountains
Bands of rain/snow way back there up Rock Crk. Canyon, further west. Moister back there.
little streams still no ice. has been very mild.
the allure of the open road...
turned back here, getting very windy. did not get too wet on return, perfect timing. 7C on the return, 13C at the start.

most hazardous avalanche/rockslide chute 2km from start. bad things can happen there
bonus forgot to include this yest., view S into the Lakefork Canyon from 3365m Sundance's Pass. 17km down to the 2200m start. took us 7 hrs up and back.
we have been very warm and dry here along the Beartooth Front the past month. why our fall colors were muted, along with blights.
turn left or run off a cliff and die. apt not just in this country, but far too many. "right" means greed-based. no consideration of other people or the environment. what will it take...?

My legs still feel cooked from earlier this week, but sustainably so. Like I'm missing my top gear but I can drive for hours on the other five. I guess tomorrow's long run will be the test of that statement. Happy weekend! #running

Totally wrecked today with inflammation/insomnia so finally lacing up for a short, gentle #5KADay #running and food prep for dinner after. Send me good vibes #runsky #runchat! Pics from yesterday’s ~ 7.2 km run
had to stop for puppies on parade sheltering under BART guiderail in El Cerrito. 4 little pups in frame, 1 pup out of frame, 1 owner with leash in frame
selfie of me (female runner on paved ohlone greenway / BART path) at accidental 3km pause to admire pups and take pictures. signs of obvious rain like wet path and my drenched hat
somehow applefitness split my run into two segments where the puppy pause occurred, here are some running details
