One thing I want people to do is to take their yearly insurance costs and multiply it by 20 (double it and add a 0). The result would be how much income you would need for a 5% tax increase to cost the same amount. For the guy in the picture, that's 120k per year.

Profits are a private taxation that Asset Management gets to decide on how it's reallocated. So Private Equity Firms like Vanguard & others, are the institutional shareholders that tell the CEOs what to do with profits & then reward the CEO yes men with a payrises. Company falls over? Fail sideways

AstraZeneca CEO eyes record £28m pay package bonanza, up from £17.7m. Previously, AstraZeneca CEO threatened to deny drugs to the NHS unless it paid more. Govt capitulated. Blackmail works, delivers high rewards for shareholders and execs.

That last statement has been taken out of context on repeat. In telling 1%ers their taxes will increase he made the statement “Your standard of living won’t fundamentally changed.” The Bookings Institute has the vid. The far left is as sociopathic as the far right. Both must be contained.

Rogers voted 19 times to keep drug prices high and takes Big Pharma cash. He backs billionaire tax cuts over infrastructure, stripped Detroit schools' local control in 1999, and busts unions. Dr Abdul El-Sayed stands for Democratic principles. Rogers doesn't.

Canadian Taxpayers Federation Deploys Debt Clock Ahead of Budget to Highlight $1.3 Trillion National Debt

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) has deployed a large digital Debt Clock on a truck outside Parliament Hill in Ottawa to visually demonstrate the escalating federal debt, which has surpassed $1.3 trillion. The clock displays the debt increasing by $179 million daily or $2,000 every second, with each Canadian's share amounting to $32,700. CTF Federal Director Franco Terrazzano emphasized that the government's interest payments on the debt, totaling $58.7 billion this year, exceed health transfers to provinces ($57.4 billion) and GST revenue ($53.4 billion). Terrazzano criticized the government for its 'fastest-growing expense' and urged Prime Minister Mark Carney to stop overspending and borrowing, stating that the $1 billion weekly interest payments represent the 'biggest waste of money.' The CTF first introduced the Debt Clock in the 1990s to combat runaway government borrowing. The organization highlighted that the federal government is borrowing $65 billion this year without a plan to balance the budget, with interest charges projected to continue rising. The Parliamentary Budget Officer's recent report confirmed that debt interest is the government's fastest-growing expense, underscoring the urgency of fiscal responsibility. The CTF's demonstration aims to pressure Parliament to address the debt crisis before the November 5 budget announcement.

Oh I didn't take it that way. The two go hand in hand. People need to understand that living in a great society means paying for it, and politicians need to be committed to giving us the best services and not acting like 1% tax cuts are preferable to a better country.

I’m reasonably mad at the government. So, this is one of the documents my neighbor had to submit to apply for a lower "decile" status—to make them eligible for subsidies or social assistance. How on earth can people living like this be classified as being in the "wealthier half" of the population?

A new report updating Inland Revenue's work: NZ's very wealthiest families paid an effective tax rate of 8.1% over 2021–24, counting capital gains as income. The median-wealth adult paid 17.4%. The difference is mostly gains we choose not to tax. #nzpol
