i haven't really gotten into Lyd's Problem in "canon" yet ("girl what's ur problem," the central question at the core of brainchild) but as a taste...I found this character questionnaire meme i filled out some years back and had a particularly "🥲" moment rereading what i'd written for her

Personal strengths: Admirably confident and self-assured, Taker of No Bullshit, ambitious and seemingly masterfully in control of her own life and destiny. She has a poetic, wondrous soul (no matter how much she believes she's lost touch with it) and nurtures a deep desire to create, to share profound ideas, and to traverse completely novel and unimagined territory.

Personal flaws: Sardonic and facetious to a fault, people have a difficult time knowing when Lydia is being genuine--people up to and including Lydia herself. She's at once cynical and bored of her own cynicism, expects everyone to behave in all the same telegraphed ways that rarely surprise her for the better, and will twist the knife to prove it. Though she knows her ironic, aloof persona drives away the connections she's longing to make, she seems only happy to let the mask subsume her, fearing she's become withered to the core.
