I'll have to keep an eye out for this. Only been through Afflecks once. It's so massive and busy and full of little cubby corners I totally missed this. I'll have to go back and try again.

Just FYI, there is a tiny indie bookshop in Afflecks Palace in MCR that ONLY sells fantasy (and a tiny bit of horror). Not even SF. Bugbear Books - check them out if you're in the area. I was very well behaved because I was already broke but I got a copy of The Fox Wife which looks great. Pls share?

Did you know Black Beats existed? My Aunt Cookie was one, playing bongos and carving abstract sculptures. Also Alene Lee, who Kerouac kissed and told about in The Subterraneans. My take is in The Day and Night Books of Mardou Fox: rosariumpublishing.com/no….

anyway good night
Fluffy gray tabby cuddles up in my lap, which is covered with blankets; he’s looking up over my shoulder, for some reason.

“Ideas spring from a source that is not contained within one man’s personal life. We do not create them; they create us.” Carl Jung, Modern Man in Search of a Soul, 1933. Scary times know scary times.

#Booksky So Amazon is keeping the lion’s share of the cover $ for our latest title, THE COMPLETE ASTREIANT, which means our amazing authors get paid less and we get paid less (and have to wait 2 months for it), which is why we’re asking folks to buy direct! queenofswordspress.com/pr….

Dogs come when you call them, cats take a message and call you back.

Truth. #Caturday

Orange tabby cat with a sign over his head. If cats could text you back, they would not.

Once more here are the things I need to know to complete a writing assignment/commission: topic, audience, desired wordcount, deadline, pay rate. Give me at least four of five.

The Morning Monty camps on top of the tv remotes, and what are you gonna do about it? nothing, that’s what.
Fluffy gray tabby making himself comfy in a tray that’s usually meant for remote controls, atop a vintage coffee table in a living room striped with sunlight through some blinds. He is very smug about being so inconvenient.

Therer's something I was going to get from Holland & Barrett but I can't remember what it was. All I can remember is the need to go there. Very frustrating.

A one star review for a book because their Kindle doesn't work properly. 🤨
One star out of five. "Doesn't sync". Whenever I have bought the same Kindle and Audible book, they synchronised together so you could read along with the narration. I presumed this would be the case with the Mercy Of The Gods too, but no they don’t sync. Very disappointed. In fact, I feel cheated as there was no indication to be seen prior to purchasing either format that they would not synchronise.

I had an idea for a novel based around this trope. Earth is destroyed, and the human disapora jockeys itself into a position of immense power because only they can negotiate effectively between planetary cultures, because only they have experience of living with a wide variety of cultural ideas.

I know this is not generally the kind of post that anthropologists are invited to but I wanted to add: every sci-fi novel in the world with alien intelligent life is like "this whole planet (one biome) is populated by a single 'Culture,' it is driven by a high sense of 'Honor'"
