True story: my father — who at 84 is still an avid skier — tore an ACL on a helicopter ski trip 20+ years ago. His trip and season were done but his orthopedic surgeon concluded he was bow legged enough to be “non-ACL dependent” so he never had the surgery. And he’s kept on skiing without problem

he didn't do much of note with the Yankees, particularly given that it was a comparatively inauspicious time for the franchise — he played in 1 postseason game in 3 seasons (traded when it was clear that wasn't going to increase). Do you know how hard it is to do that for a 21st-century Yankee?

To be fair, yes, Beltran did have ~3 1/2 of his seven-best seasons by WAR (his peak, for JAWS purposes) as a Royal
