National action alert: Tell Congress Duffy’s attacks on bike lanes will get people killed

Sean Duffy, the corrupt B-list reality TV personality cosplaying as Trump's Transportation Secretary, is trying to put language in the transportation reauthorization bill that would restrict bike lanes on the misleadingly-named "National Highway System." This system includes a lot of regular city streets (map), including streets like Eastlake Ave where a federally-funded project is currently building new protected bike lanes. The system also includes many of Seattle's most dangerous streets, such as Rainier Ave S, Aurora Ave N, Fauntleroy Way SW, 4th Ave S and many more, streets big enough that Federal funding might be needed to help cover the significant cost to repave and rebuild them.

Bike camping on Lopez Island was amazing yet again + WA should fund a direct bus to Anacortes Ferry Terminal

Our family went bike camping on Lopez Island Sunday to Wednesday, and it was amazing as always. Word definitely seems to have gotten out, and even on a Sunday the number of people biking off the ferry was amazing. A teen was going on a bike camping trip with friends to celebrate his 18th birthday, and we ran into several other families bike camping together during our stay. We camped at Spencer Spit State Park because it might be my favorite place on this planet. There's a wetland bird sanctuary, great camping sites (including a good number of hiker/biker spots), fun and safe places for kids to run around and explore, kayaks for rent on the beach, an amazing farm stand nearby to grab something fresh for camp meals.

Alert 8/27-31: Ship Canal Trail getting bump fixes near Fisherman’s Terminal

A very bumpy section of the Ship Canal Trail along W Emerson St near Fisherman’s Terminal is getting fixed. Luckily, there’s a fairly easy detour on the north side of the street, though it does require crossing at the 19th Ave W signal. Expect the detour starting tomorrow (August 27) through August 31. More details from SDOT: We will be starting on Thursday 8/27 with the segment of the Ship Canal Trail near the Fisherman’s Terminal. Thursday 8/27: Setup and tree pruning along W Emerson Pl between 21st Ave W and 16th Ave W.
