When I used to commute from u district to Montlake I could use the Burke Gilman which is completely off the road, so cars only at crossing pts. It was really nice ❤️

We’re going to need to widen some of our most popular paths- the Burke Gilman Trail being #1. But that hasn’t been a major barrier to scaling yet

LOVE the Burke Gilman. Walked my boys on it in strollers, rode our bikes on it to parks. I don’t live there anymore but we LOVED it and used it ALL THE TIME!!

I realized bike commuting was feasible when I lived in Ballard and biked to the U District: that's largely one long hill. So I took the Burke Gilman, pushed my bike up the last block, and had the best commute of my life. Now I have an ebike and live in a flatter city, still bike everywhere.

Seattle is further south than Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Copenhagen. Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam get more rain than Seattle. Bike commuting is hugely popular in hilly cities like Brussels; e-bikes make it a non-issue.

I was a bike commuter in Seattle. I disagree. There were actually bike traffic jams during peak hours. There are numerous bike paths Burke Gilman one of the best connectors for example.

In Seattle: - People bike all the time. - We have a temperate climate. - Half the hills are downhill.

North Seattle bike infrastructure: available 24/7. South Seattle bike infrastructure: available a few weekends a year.

Dude, you're complaining about something that existed before you. Katie Wilson is bringing it back. Seattle bike share hit 10M trips in '25 — up 60%. "NEVER" is doing a lot of work. Why live here if bikes on the road a few summer weekends bothers you so much?

I was just going to say, there’s no way this guy lives in Seattle. Biking to work is extremely common here. Go stand on Eastlake, the West Seattle Bridge, or the Burke-Gilman trail at 5 pm and start counting bikes. You’d be into the hundreds in minutes.

Where tf has Andrew come from? I was using the Burke Gilman as my primary commute when he was in diapers My kids used it We didn’t have a car Plenty of ppl have used bikes and buses (put your bike on a bus) and now they have e-scooters and bikes Andrew should be grateful we’ve cleared the roads

I was struck by this street. Devoid of life on a Sunday while the nearby Burke Gilman is full of people Seattle has “Stay Healthy” signs but the street feels unwelcoming, still car dominated. When people feel they can walk & bike safely on their own streets, the barricades will come down.
