I like watching movies about sports that terrify me: mountain climbing, caving, deep sea diving.

So those three elderly women who used ChatGPT to rent a sailboat without knowing how to sail died at sea from exposure, right?

Tonight's Galveston image is the U.S. Lighthouse Service Tender SUNFLOWER (1907) tied up near Pier 19. The image is catalogued as c. 1919. SUNFLOWER served in the Eighth Lighthouse District, headquartered at New Orleans, from 1913 until being decommissioned in 1946. Peterson's "United States Lighthouse Service Tenders, 1840-1939" notes that just before WWII, SUNFLOWER was operating out of Galveston.

The U.S. Lighthouse Service was rolled into the U.S. Coast Guard in 1939.

Around the time of the photo, SUNFLOWER had a usual complement 6 officers and 26 enlisted men.
