Red Cup Fungus (Sarcoscypha austriaca) ignites spring forests with vivid, cup-shaped displays that might even attract tiny pollinators. Could these brilliant hues be part of a secret ecosystem strategy? #FungiExplained #Mycology

Planted honeysuckle and jasmine , trying to attract pollinators to my garden. 🫤 I remember people warning us about bees disappearing. 😔 With so many of us recognizing coming crisis and food shortages ... We're in trouble, y'all, if the pollinators are gone.

Salvia is beloved by birds and butterflies alike. When you plant it next to your birdbath, pollinators will come for the food and stay for a quick dip.

Black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata) are sparsely distributed in Madagascar's eastern rainforest. They prefer the upper half of the canopy and leap vertically with stunning accuracy. Perhaps the world's largest pollinators. Threatened by habitat loss and hunting. Critically Endangered.

Man, I love Spring. The apples I didn't pick up last Fall have composted in place, the leaves I didn't rake have broken down into mulch, the dead plant stems and twigs I didn't collect are cozy homes for emerging pollinators. All around me are peaceful testaments to the virtue of Not Doing.

Spring Cleanup for Perennial Beds: Protect Pollinators and Beneficial Insects

Spring cleanup for perennial beds does not have to mean stripping the garden bare. With delayed cleanup and a lighter touch, you can protect pollinator safety while still refreshing the space for healthy new growth and beneficial insects.

If you are planning a trip to the garden centre, please opt for plants and flowers that will benefit pollinators. You can easily tell by watching bees etc, and seeing which plants they are drawn to. Those are the plants 💚

Spring: Don't forget bugs! Get a couple hundred Praying Mantis eggs. Adorable when they hatch. It's a good time to put out nematodes too and feed them your leftover sugary drinks. If you have room, please consider a bat house - sell the guano, kill tons of skeeters. Wildflowers to feed pollinators!

Teeny tiny species Tulips for #SundayYellow. Blink and you might miss them around the stepping stones, but the early #pollinators never miss them even with all our other available #NativePlants spring ephemerals. #gardening #Bloomscrolling #FlowerReport #SundayYellow 🌱
Closeup of a teeny tiny white and yellow species tulip about the size of a quarter thrown open to pollinators next to the edge of a large stepping stone.

When you can’t be #gardening because you have to climb your chronic pain body 20ft up a sketchy ladder & figure out how to replace a disintegrated exhaust fan cover with a new stainless steel unit with damper so #birds, #pollinators & #bats flying by last night don’t try to live in your walls. 🌱
A very very steep ladder thanks to city close dwelling to a very high place with a hole just above it.
Job done—a lovely white stainless steel unit with a nice downward orientation and an internal damper to keep cold winter breezes out of our kitchen because this part of the house is much deeper than the all of the neighbors so we have no windblocks.

🐝 About 5.6 million bees, an unexpectedly large number 😲, were discovered in a New York cemetery. 🐝 This is one of the largest and oldest colonies found in the U.S. 🐝 Ground nesting bees make up about 70% of native bees in the U.S. and are very important pollinators. Cemeteries are an […]
