Too much cool/gay art to photograph it all. Our favorite beer is still their spruce, but the barrel aged quadruple is also incredible Vibes were great. Chill folk music playing. Pet friendly--def bringing Dave next time!
Evocative! Reminds me of Picasso. Ugly and beautiful and human. Good art

An insightful talk with folk music scholar Lily Bentley regarding the world of British and Irish folk songs, where decaying corpses rise, supernatural women are held captive through the theft of body parts, and musical instruments, using examples of various folk verses.

I put my eldest (the harpist) on a plane to Sweden, to help lead a group of kids on a 10-day tour sharing New England folk music. They’re pretty awesome.

Since we finally have a nice, warm, sunny day I decided to listen to some folk music and do a little trip around the world in 80 minutes. So I went to the mountains, I went to China, I went to Japan (but Japan was closed) and I saw some turtles. Good day all around :)
A narrow rocky path leading to a stone bench and surrounded by pines
A Chinese pagoda overlooking a greenish lake, and a pine in the foreground
A Japanese inspired building with windows overlooking a small garden
Turtles tanning on a rock by a murky pond

Let's start with the fact that Rózsa was a child prodigy, much like his contemporary Erich Korngold. Performing and composing music by age 8 in his native Hungary, he quickly began to collect and incorporate native Hungarian folk music into his early compositions. 2/17 #filmsky #moviesky #musicsky

I’m a bit disturbed by the memorialisation of Andy Kershaw. Yes he was important in bringing world/roots/folk music to spotty indie kids in the 1980s. But he was also a horrific domestic abuser / stalker who was imprisoned for it three times and AFAIK made no attempt to atone for it. (1/2)

www.bbc.com/culture/artic…

Connie Converse was a folk-music genius. Then she vanished

She made stunning, forward-thinking songs in the 1950s, but was barely known – and aged 50, she disappeared. Now, with a new re-release of her music, she's recognised as a trailblazer.

Antifa National Trust Pin Badge by folk musician Johnny Campbell, a response to the continued efforts by Restore Trust to take over the NT. Brilliant, £6, not an official product (yet) #NationalTrust johnnycampbell.co.uk/merc….
A round metallic pin badge on a white background. It has the National Trust oak leaf symbol in black with a red shadow and the words around the edge "Antifascist National Trust Member"

Idea: try using something more Irish/Gaelic. There's a lot of ties to Southern USA and Ireland (Very apparent when you compare Blue Grass to Gaelic folk music). Plus in Shadowrun, Tír na nÓg is a country of elves, and situated near modern Ireland. High concept, but it might could work.

Aurora doesn’t listen to much music outside of the occasional folk music show at a festival, or when she hears Elysia practice. Elysia is a bard, and can therefore cast spells with songs. She’s not much of a performer, music is a hobby for her, not a career. She plays the harp infrequently.

What relationship do your characters have to music in your book? Is it integral to the setting, or only a rare treat? #WritingPrompt
