I'm sure there's some "it's just what they were going for, and you just happen to not be into it", but literally as someone who enjoys DOS2, BG3 and ULTRAKILL, in part due to the dark themes, this trailer feels like painting a picture of *too* dark for my tastes, for the sole purpose of being dark.

I saw a post recently describing ultrakill fans as the modern day equivalent to jojo fans in the 2010's, and I think they're right, though, Ultrakill fans are much more confined. They're a gentle kind, they just like their game.
