Every time I hear about someone using (read: loading my writing into) character dot ai to speak to Exocolonist characters, I feel a little spark of creative energy in me flare up and die out forever, like the little damaged hairs inside your ears that give you tinnitus.

Or maybe music volume should not be high enough to cause permanent hearing damage. I speak as a senior with permanent hearing damage from clubs and concerts. Oh, and the tinnitus also sucks big time.

That's one good thing about having permanent tinnitus from playing in a rock band for years... guilt free AirPod usage! ๐Ÿ˜…

Brother played Sister Ray for 14yo niece. His wife - nice woman - no quarrel with her - from Detroit but as she'd admit not the Iggy Pop side - came downstairs, said, 'What are you guys listening to? It sounds like my tinnitus.' The thing is she's not wrong, but...

I've had tinnitus since I was a child but I thought it was normal, or maybe connected to atmospheric pressure changes, until I was 40. I told my doc how long I'd had it & he said, barring a concussion or a nearby explosion, it was probably related to the measles I had when I was about three.

Since giving up alcohol over 2 years ago and not able to go out socially since June after developing very bad tinnitus, work is pretty much all I can do now, which sounds sad yet here I am.

As someone with always-present tinnitus I can confirm that thinking about tinnitus makes it worse. Just protect your ears at concerts and enjoy life :)

Was worried that I was developing tinnitus from going to concerts recently, but it has dawned on me that I've had low level tinnitus for years that I just don't notice except when I'm paranoid that I'm damaging my hearing by going to concerts

The last SUNDAY QUESTION of the month! What is the correct answer?
A 34-year-old female presented to the emergency department (ED) with a 3-day history of left ear pain, without discharge or tinnitus.
Over the last 24 hours this had progressed to a severe generalised headache with a high fever. On examination, she appeared unwell, septic and drowsy. She was tachycardic and febrile.
Observations were as follows:
HR 110, BP 98/50, RR 24, Sats 98% on air, GCS 14 (E3, V5, M6), Temp 39.3 degrees centigrade
Heart sounds were normal and the chest was clear to auscultation. Abdomen was soft.
She had no mastoid tenderness or meninigism. Neurological examination was normal.
Which one of the following will be least helpful in the initial clinical assessment of this patient?

a). Travel history
b). Mental state examination
c). ENT examination
d). Collateral history

Sounds familiar. Some of the other Gammas described a similar phenomenon, after their augmentations- but it was a side effect Silvia never received. "How do you even think for yourself?" She understood the noise, at least. Hers was an incessant drone, the endless ring of tinnitus. Definitely --

โ€œmost telepaths have the ability to turn it off and on. like . . they look at someone and focused, they can activate their powers. i live . . with it on. all the time.โ€

I get a lot of mucus in my throat, which blocks my eustacion tubes, constantly having to pop my ears. My fix is that I have almost completely cut out caffeine tea coffee, especially late evening, and now drink ginger tea. Mucus gone and tinnitus and nausea with it. If I over indulge, it comes back.

I used to get really bad tinnitus and nausea, and recently got on top of it. It is now down to manageable levels. For me it was all linked to eustacion dysfunction. I won't bore you with the details but willing to share if you think it might help.

Today is risking going bad again, so again I'm going try avoid it. I'm becoming increasingly sore, dizzy, sensitive to sound & my skin feeling so intense it's almost painful with Tinnitus also back again. All I can do is try sleep again ASAP so I will. At least I can get up to shut my door this time

Another thing I do, which helps w my TBI caused tinnitus & my tendency to awake in panic attacks when things are really bad, is I listen to audio books in bed. Just loud enough so if I focus I can follow. NO INTERNET! If I have a rough night, I get thru a lot, then next night I can fast forward!
