๐Ÿงต Today, a federal appeals court ruled that abortion seekers can only get mifepristone in person at a health center, in another attack on abortion access that has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with control. www.pbs.org/newshour/hea...

Healthcare access shouldn't depend on technical loopholes. Some insurers use "copay accumulators" to pocket patient aid without lowering costs for the insured. I authored #SB1199 to ban this, protect our $250 copay cap, and ensure no one chooses between food and medicine. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

Mifepristone is also used in treating people experiencing miscarriages. Miscarriages happen in all trimesters, not just the first. So when someone experiences the tragedy of pregnancy loss in the third trimester, mifepristone is standard of care in helping with the delivery process.

More on the history of REMS and the FDA's paternalistic approach to reproductive health in my recent story on the agency's surprising decision to impose a REMS on Nexplanon, the contraceptive implant.

This is outrageous!! It is not like the data on mifepristone's safety suddenly changed overnight. This is a safe, necessary medication for many women and people across the country managing #abortion and #miscarriage. Now care has halted for thousands of people. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/0โ€ฆ.

Ongoing federal attacks on Planned Parenthood are putting access at risk. Funding cuts threaten essential services like birth control, STI testing and treatment, and cancer screenings โ€” pushing care further out of reach for the patients who rely on us most. Michigan needs Planned Parenthood. ๐Ÿ’™
