im happy to help! the ps2 and psp games are super easy to setup and nearly every older game up to like.. generations is able to be emulated (though physical hardware is also fun, it’s how im playing the series :D)
emulation is also how you play freedom unite and portable 3rd with others online

You can still find 3DSes for sale, the prices aren't cheap but they're not outrageous either. $260 for most models, and $300-400 for XL Models.
If you wanna save up further than that, you can get an AYN Thor, which is a DS Model that can do up to Switch emulation. $250-450 based on specs.

I bought an XBO too, but after the start of the lies that gen, I shouldn't have been surprised there were less exclusives, less support and BC was going to be killed pretty soon after the launch of the XSX
Only thing good I have to say about the XSX, it's a beast of an emulation machine in dev mode

Yeah, I try to buy enough games to support modern versions or companies that created the original thing I’m playing or whatever, but if you want the original experience, realistically 98% of us have to engage in some level of emulation, which sucks for some consoles more than others.

On a semi-related note, I typically have little to no issues playing games in Cemu but whenever I close the application or try to go into general settings while emulation is running it crashes. It's like a minor inconvenience at most but I am curious as to why it consistently happens.

First one I played was Ruby on a GBA emulator for the PSP I had
But the first one I beat was FireRed when I actually got a GBA SP
A few years later Diamond when I got a DS
Beat Emerald, SoulSilver and White though emulation
Never played Gen 6 and beyond
