I think it depends on the subject you're covering. Does it have newsworthy events happening throughout the day? I remember at Knight Ridder in SanJose we had a well connected writer who covered Silicon Valley as his beat. He's live blog from Larry Ellison investor presentations, for example.

They did have CareerBuilder, which started as a joint venture with Knight Ridder, but it reflected an old school way of thinking about the issue.

To clear things up: ‘Knight Rider” was a tv show starring David Hasselhoff and the voice of William Daniels as KITT, a talking car ‘Knight Ridder’ was a news publisher based in San Jose Hope this helps

- and so that's why I think that Knight Rider, the TV show about an intelligent car, is a pun on Knight Ridder, the news service - please, whatever they're paying you I'll double it

WRONG. I was there. THERE WAS NO MELTDOWN. It wasn’t even close. NIXON & THORNBURG used 3 Mile Island as political NEWSPEAK PROPAGANDA. I was a recent BABCOCK & WILCOX & Westinghouse nuclear steam generator strategy expert in 75-77. Knight Ridder News sent me to cover it. It was FAKE NEWS

One need only to look at PA to find dissent as witnessed in MELTDOWN, the story of 3 mile island, on Netflix. A mini-series about how the government (NRC) could have given a shit if hundreds had died when a nuke reactor meltdown almost blew 4 states off the map.

"Shock and Awe" is a good film about a group of reporters at Knight Ridder who were skeptical of the Bush Administration's claims: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sho….

Damn... this one is rough.

Some news: McClatchy is shutting down their D.C. bureau and laying off some staffers, including a few reporters who cover Congress and the White House.

We’re watching Shock and Awe movie (Knight Ridder story), again. At the time, I haven’t realized that the White House fed the NYT stories which they printed verbatim. I had my doubts but I couldn’t possibly know that. The coverage of Iraq war lies was when I stopped idealizing US. It was a hard fall

Knight Ridder winning a Pulitzer for shaking the trees and ignoring the press briefings during the Iraq War didn’t move that needle, but maybe they’ll benefit from personal experience of what kinds of stories you can get without relying on access to leadership and their comms team.

Back when I was wire editor at one of Knight Ridder's outposts, I always looked forward to Nancy Youssef's dispatches. If you need proof that she's a master of her craft, read this.

Knight Ridder ceased to exist in 2006. We were a comparatively responsible company that was alone in exposing the Bush administration's lies leading up to the second Iraq war.

Shock and Awe (2007) is also very good in this regard. Details the Knight Ridder journalists saw through the Bush admins lies in the lead up to the Iraq invasion.

Could you clarify, perhaps? Knight Ridder is dead. Gannett is unfortunately the largest U.S. newspaper publisher, having been bought in 2019 by private equity companies that censor every local publication's coverage and fire any reporter who might investigate and unsettle the status quo.

Knight Ridder then Gannet would beg to differ. The Onion could never do that if all other print wasn't already dead.

That would be wonderful, but Knight Ridder folded in 2006. The buyer of most of its newspapers, McClatchy, crippled itself with debt, went bankrupt, and is owned by one of the worst private-equity funds now.
