Research has shown that signature matching leads to disproportionately high levels of rejected ballots for voters of color, as well as those who are new, young, old, politically unaffiliated or disabled. Sometimes, signature-matching efforts disqualify more legitimate than illegitimate ballots.

But they’re not ‘being public about it’ This is a journalistic scoop. Baffling how so many people don’t get the problem with *foreign governments* funding U.K. political organisations

I suspect the major difference with this form of American interference in British democracy, and whatever they’ve been up to since World War II, is that this time the public have been told about it.

Direct foreign interference in British politics
- we have rules against foreign governments funding parliamentary groups, but this is fine?? Seriously??

This argument fails on its own terms the point is that this is a *foreign government* funding political operations in the U.K. (Chucking around Soros/Open Society is generally the most obvious tell of a bad faith argument online but in this case it is really irrelevant )

These aren't parliamentary groups, theyre independent nonprofits... the kind that the Left have had funded forever via Open Society & climate groups etc, but now that the Right have started to support things such as (horror!) free speech, the fainting couch is wheeled out. Comical.

This week, the administration admitted that it has no plans to provide Congress or the public with a final tally of DOGE’s impact. Ending DOGE without this kind of report is just more evidence that they never really cared about transparency and oversight in the first place.
