One of the things that my graduate school alma mater did right was invite accomplished scholars to share works in progress with its students. A lot of the wips were bad—logically inconsistent, not well organized, needing more evidence, etc.—but contained the germ of what they could become.

Re: CA etc, There's heaps of recent work studying the use of LLMs and other robo tools in settings of their actual use, but I've not heard of people using them in their analysis/research. Amongst all the academics in the qual and emca space that I largely engage with there is strong opposition.
