Armand gives a curt little sigh. “Well, that’s a horrifying glimpse into what could have been,” he says in a voice like polished glass, then looks at Molloy. “I was right not to turn you in the ‘70s, feel free to officially admit this at any time.” “Jesus, he’s gonna be fine, it’s a temporary high!” Jasper groans, throwing his head back (his neck is beautiful, and Guy gets to bite it now),then lifts it back up to look at Armand. “It’s already fading, on night one he was so loaded he couldn’t walk straight. Trust me, I know what I’m doing. Not like I was a virgin when I did him. No offence.” Armand huffs, then gives a dour look to Molloy, who is currently hiding a snort in his glass of blood and doing a pretty shitty job of it. “Uh-oh, careful there, pal,” Molloy says with a crooked grin. “He’s ripped people’s hands off for less.”$

After letting Yeosang indulge some more in her chardonnay, Wooyoung is keen to break the silence once more. "Does it feel like it's been months since we last saw each other to you?"

Yeosang swallows the last dregs in her glass. "…Yes? I mean, it has been months."

"So, what's all the awkwardness for?"

For a moment, Yeosang appears bewildered. Wooyoung rushes to correct herself and to be delivered from the guilt of causing Yeosang's distress. "Sorry, I didn't mean to come off strong." She worries her lip between her teeth while trying to think of conversation starters, feeling sorely juvenile.

"There were all sorts of crabs."

Wooyoung swivels her head. "Crabs?"

Yeosang's eyes grow wide. "Did I say that out loud?"

Wooyoung nods, encouraging Yeosang to elaborate on her non-sequitur.

He wonders at him, this conventionally attractive, conventionally successful man who could've just taken them out to one of the stupidly expensive fine dining restaurants in the city, but instead seemingly put himself through agonies to cook up an appetizer himself.

"Do you cook a lot? This is so good," Wooyoung asks, reaching for another.

Yunho looks more pleased. "No, not really at all. But I want to cook more. I wanted to— I dunno. Wanted to make you something."

Their eyes meet as they chew, and Wooyoung is hit with that uncanny feeling. Like when you blink back from a long daydream and reality reassembles in front of your eyes, but… but more.

I'm gonna love him forever.

An unbidden, loud, insane little thought. It's crystal clear, the lightning bolt of knowing when you figure out the end of a mystery novel several chapters before.

Later that night, naked body to naked body in Yunho's bed, the thought hits him again. He sits up to stare at Yunho's face in the darkness.

In thirty years, he's going to live this moment again. Sitting up in bed to stare into Yunho's face in the darkness. Grey hair that he doesn't have now gleaming in the moonlight through the window. A different bed, a different house, three decades of love between them grown strong and sunny like an oak.

An annoyed huff escapes Yoongi's mouth. He glances over to his living room, gaze landing on Namjoon's books he placed onto the coffee table last night. Right Place, Wrong Person sits at the top, black and white cover practically calling out to him.

Forget about the food. Ignore your stomach. Read me instead. Read me. Read me. Come on, I know you wanna read me. Read me. Read me. Read-

His stomach rumbles. A flag of surrender for a losing battle.

Yoongi stares defeated at his fridge. The sooner he forces himself to cook, the sooner he can plop down on his couch and numb his mind to Namjoon's new poetry. Any motivation is better than nothing at this point.

Yet as he steps over to the refrigerator and pulls the door open, that motivation withers away with the initial chill that hits his face.

He can't imagine a more depressing sight as he examines what he's got inside. Vegetables, for one, but not even enough for him to maybe attempt a salad—as a last feasible option, of course. Just a sad ball of cabbage, a couple carrots, two and half sticks of asparagus, and a singular piece of broccoli in a small tupperware box. Maybe if he were a rabbit, he'd be jumping for joy at his exquisite dinner, but because he has been cursed to the fate of being a human, all he feels is disappointment.

He turns to the side. Spices. He turns to the other side. Condiments. He opens up the meat compartment. Empty. He checks for eggs. Nothing. There is nothing.

…

"Fuck!"

Yoongi slams the refrigerator door shut.
