AWS's S3 object storage is at a different level of scale. It serves ~150M RPS (!!) and offers 11 nines of durability (!!!) [if you store 100M objects, you can statistically expect to lose one every 1,000 years] I'll talk with the team building it. What would you like to know?

More #LearningGodot! I tackled something I had ZERO familiarity with, cuz I was tired of being intimidated by it: 3D. Did the Zenva tutorial for a walking sim. Movement, smoothing, turning off that thing where going diagonally makes you faster, object interaction, etc. Ready to make MYST, now. :V

The only question is whether they will actually say the President has the authority to fire these officials (in contradiction to what the law says) or if they will invent some Calvinball rule that basically says only Republican Presidents have this authority and Dems don't.

💯💯💯 I've been teaching myself both Japanese and GDScript/game development in my free time, and my only regret is I didn't buckle down and REALLY start trying sooner, because it was "too hard."

a tweet by toby fox that says "I didn't try to learn Japanese for a long time because I thought it would be too hard. But now I love learning it and I use it every day.

If there's anything you want to learn, don't be stopped by thinking it'll be too hard! Try it! Game-making, music, art, language, anything!"

My goodness. The chuds are fighting over whether or not the publisher of *Quillette* is a woke leftist because she suggested cheering on public hangings might come back to bite the MAGA tech bros. Incredible.

Can we put this in the Louvre?

Last week, kid misheard my wife refer to "carrot muffins" and thought she said "taro pie." (If you say it fast enough you can kinda hear why). So... wife decided to make a taro pie (yes, with fresh taro). It's quite good (which is what happens when you add enough sugar to anything).

I was intensely annoyed that the cat vomited spectacularly (and wetly) all over my Sibley bird guide, until I realized that the guide had acted as a dam and saved my laptop. I would give the noble Sibley a Viking funeral but it’s too soggy.

Lots of people have been passing around this somewhat concerning Alex Karp video, but it reminds me that two years ago the NYTimes published a piece he wrote about how AI was going to create weapons based on... the dumbest correlation ever. Nuclear tests over time compared to parameters used in ML
