Aotearoa Birds 🪶🇳🇿

I made both of these paintings of Helen's Bridge, part of the Zealandia estate on Beaucatcher Mountain overlooking Asheville, last year. I did the first one as a conventional landscape because I was struggling with how to scale up the stencil paintings when I first started with them. #painting

It's molting a wee bit, but still, one mustn't complain when a red-crowned parakeet / kākāriki (Cyanoramphus novaezelandiae) poses so nicely. Shakespear Regional Park, Auckland. #nzbirds #BirdsSeenIn2026 #NewZealand #parakeet

I have a pūtangitangi update! The Deses Nine are still 9, and oh my gosh they're all just little mischief puffs. It was really horrendous weather this morning when we kitted up and went walking but it was so worth it to see my little darlings! They've been in the creek for days but it's well up.

Sometimes the world is great.

note: i like birds a lot and have planned daytime AND nighttime visits to zealandia already 🥰

October 14: “Free Choice” and “Potion” I went with a Southern Brown Kiwi today 🇳🇿 … Sharing some October Art I’m making as part of #BirdtoberClub2026 and #Witchtober2026 over on instagram. I’m combining prompts from both challenges. #birds

Does this count for #birdoftheday? Last year's birthday tattoo of a pohowera (or banded dotterel) by my very talented sibling

I saw a @pepperraccoon.com Kārearea shirt in the burbs of Auckland on Friday. Made me smile. 😊
